Amazon Ads Agent is the new name of Amazon’s advertising platform. At unBoxed 2026 (September 29), Amazon merged the ads console and the DSP into one AI-powered buying experience and retired the Amazon DSP name. For sellers, two things are usable right now: Full-Funnel Campaigns, open to all US advertisers, and Review Request campaigns, in open beta through the end of October for ASINs under 1,000 reviews.
The conversational AI skills, DVA+ programmatic buying, and Branded Conversations arrive between late October 2026 and early 2027. This guide covers what changed, what is actually live, and the moves worth making before Q4 peak.
Live now (US)
One budget across sponsored ads, display, video, and streaming TV. You approve the creative; the AI runs the mix.
All US advertisersClosing soon
A campaign type that asks buyers for a review. Open beta runs through the end of October for ASINs under 1,000 reviews.
Beta ends Oct 31Coming next
Programmatic in one campaign (open beta expected late October) plus conversational planning, targeting, and analytics.
Late 2026 to 2027What is Amazon Ads Agent?
Amazon Ads Agent is the unified Amazon advertising platform announced at unBoxed 2026 in San Francisco. It folds the ads console and the demand-side platform into a single media buying experience and layers agentic AI on top. You can keep building campaigns manually, hand optimization to the AI, or combine both in the same account.
The merger itself started a year earlier, when Amazon first unified the console and DSP. What changed in September 2026 is the branding and the default: the Amazon DSP name is retired, programmatic buying is now called DVA (display, video, and audio), and a conversational interface is becoming the front door. Kelly MacLean, Amazon Ads VP of engineering, science, and product, framed it as AI delivering “better advertising with improved performance across all channels.”
One connection worth making: the ChatGPT Ads pilot Amazon announced on September 10 was routed through “Amazon DSP”. That route now lives inside Ads Agent, so the platform a seller learns today is the same one those conversational placements will be bought through.
Three campaign families sit inside the platform: sponsored ads (Products, Brands, Display, the formats in our 2026 ad formats guide), DVA for programmatic, and the new Full-Funnel Campaigns. Sponsored ads also became automatically eligible to appear inside Alexa for Shopping conversations, which makes how your listings read to an AI (our AI shopping assistant guide) part of your ad strategy, not a side quest.
What can sellers use in Amazon Ads Agent today?
As of mid-October 2026, availability splits cleanly into live, beta, and announced. Amazon’s own announcement says Full-Funnel Campaigns are “now available to all advertisers in the United States.” Most of the rest is staged. Here is the status of each piece, and the first move that makes sense for a seller.
| What it is | What it does | Status (US, Oct 2026) | First move for a seller |
|---|---|---|---|
| Full-Funnel Campaigns | One budget and goal; AI plans and optimizes across sponsored ads, display, video, and streaming TV. You approve creatives before launch. | Live for all US advertisers | Test with a capped budget alongside your existing campaigns, not instead of them. |
| Review Request campaigns | Asks recent buyers for a star rating and review on the homepage, orders page, and post-purchase emails. Pay per review click, no incentives allowed. | Open beta through end of October, ASINs under 1,000 reviews | If a hero ASIN sits under 1,000 reviews, enroll before October 31. |
| Conversational skills | Media planning, plain-language audience targeting, analytics across nearly 1,000 metrics, one-click Sponsored Products guidance. | Beta, rolling out over coming months | Use it for diagnosis questions first; keep bid changes deliberate. |
| DVA+ | Display, streaming TV, and audio in one campaign with one objective, powered by Brand+ and Performance+. Advanced settings keep manual control. | Closed beta; open beta expected late October; GA targeted Q1 2027 across 35 markets | Wait unless you already run programmatic. Sponsored ads still earn Q4 budget first. |
| Branded Conversations | Turns a Sponsored Brands click into a multi-turn Alexa for Shopping conversation styled with your brand assets. | Announced; US general availability January 2027 | Write your Conversational Brief now so the AI represents your products correctly. |
Two announcements matter less for most sellers but are worth knowing: Sponsored Services connects shoppers with local service providers (Yelp is the anchor partner), and an Amazon Ads MCP server lets developers wire their own AI agents into the ads stack. Both signal where the platform is heading: every surface, human or agent, becomes buyable.
The rollout, dated: what lands when
From Amazon’s Accelerate and unBoxed 2026 announcements and trade coverage, as of October 19, 2026.
Dates from Amazon’s announcements where stated; DVA+ open beta timing and the January 2027 Branded Conversations date are from agency and trade reporting of unBoxed sessions. Betas can move.
Do the agentic campaigns actually perform?
Amazon says yes, loudly, and every number below is Amazon’s own. That does not make the figures false, but it makes them marketing: they come from betas, from advertisers who opted in, and from reporting Amazon controls. Treat them as the upper bound of what is plausible, not the expected value of your account.
The headline claims: beta advertisers on Full-Funnel Campaigns saw 67% higher long-term ROAS and a 29% lower cost to acquire new-to-brand customers. One named tester, pet brand Canine Naturals, reported that 41% of its Full-Funnel sales were new to brand. And last year’s conversational targeting feature, per Amazon, delivered more than 25% additional unique customers at more than 10% lower average cost per impression.
Amazon’s reported lifts from agentic features
All figures are Amazon-reported, from betas and opt-in cohorts announced at unBoxed 2026.

The caveats are structural, not nitpicks. Full-Funnel reporting is at the format level, and audience-level transparency is, in Amazon’s own framing, still in progress. When one system plans the media, buys the media, and grades the media, the honest control is yours: a holdout of your existing campaign structure running beside the agentic one, compared on total account TACoS, not on the campaign’s self-reported ROAS. That discipline is the core of our PPC reference guide, and it matters more under AI, not less.

Five moves, in order of urgency. Peak season pricing started October 15 and the first beta window closes October 31, so two of these have real deadlines; the rest compound whenever you start.
1. Enroll eligible ASINs in Review Requests before October 31
If a revenue-driving ASIN has fewer than 1,000 reviews, the open beta is the cheapest legitimate review accelerator Amazon has offered: you pay only when a shopper clicks through to leave a review, and closed-beta participants reportedly tripled weekly reviews. Review count is also a page-one gate; in our Page One Study, thin-review products rarely held organic slots.
2. Run Full-Funnel as a capped experiment, not a replacement
Give it a fixed budget you can afford to learn with, approve every creative it generates, and judge it on account-level TACoS after four weeks. Do not pause the sponsored ads structure that already works during the quarter it matters most.
3. Write your Conversational Brief
Ads Agent lets brands tell the AI how to present their products: which items pair together, what the use cases are, what the product descriptions should emphasize. Those briefs feed Branded Conversations and the recommendations Alexa for Shopping makes. Write yours now, because the brands that seed the AI early define how it talks about their category. Note the limit: you cannot choose which reviews the AI surfaces.
4. Keep your listings AI-readable
Sponsored ads are now automatically eligible inside Alexa for Shopping conversations, so structured attributes, plain-language use cases, and complete Q and A content decide whether the AI can sell your product. The checklist is in our AI shopping assistant guide.
5. Protect margin while you experiment
Every test above happens inside the October 15 to January 14 peak window, when FBA fees average an extra $0.32 a unit and storage roughly triples. Budget the experiments against the Q4 peak fee math so a “working” campaign is not quietly eating the margin the fees already squeezed.
ROAS 0.5 to 2.0: the fix no optimizer found
A sustainable bar soap brand came to us with a launch underwater: ROAS around 0.5 and TACoS over 100%. No bidding algorithm could fix it, because the problem was structural: wrong targets, wrong offer framing, weak listing conversion. Rebuilt by hand, the account reached 2.0 ROAS and roughly 10% TACoS, and weekly margin turned positive. Agentic AI optimizes the campaign you give it; it does not notice that the campaign is the wrong one.
Does Amazon Ads Agent replace your PPC manager?
It replaces the clicking, not the judgment. Campaign assembly, bid changes, budget shuffling across formats: that work is being automated, and pretending otherwise is bad advice. What the agent cannot do is decide what a profitable quarter looks like for your business, because it only sees Amazon’s side of your P and L.
The agent optimizes toward the goal you type in, with Amazon’s inventory, measured by Amazon’s reporting. It does not know your landed cost, your cash position going into a Q4 inventory bet, or that a 12.9x ROAS week was possible for a smart irrigation brand because a human chose to push a $2,000 average order value product hard into seasonal demand. Strategy, margin math, creative, and catalog decisions move up the stack; they do not disappear.
Our honest read: solo sellers get more capable tools and should use them. Brands past roughly $20K a month get something different: a reason to make sure whoever runs their ads, in-house or a full-service agency, spends their hours on the decisions the agent cannot make, and holds the agent to account with measurement it does not control.
